Suzy Lambert, of Cumberland, a 16-year-old sophomore at La Salle Academy, says of her first year as a House page: ``My parents wanted me to get a job, and this one looks good on a rèsumè. And it doesn't interfere with my school schedule - no nights or weekends. It's exciting to be in the middle of the action, where laws are actually being made.''
Her mom is a kindergarten teacher, her dad a church deacon. ``I think I want to be a teacher, but it would have to be older grades, where I can make a connection with the students. What I really want to be is an actress, but it's too hard to make a living, too unstable. I've been in several plays at school, like Dracula.''
Suzy volunteers at Mount St. Rita Health Centre in Cumberland, working with AIDS patients and their families. ``It's important - it gives me a good feeling to volunteer.''
She has two older brothers: one went to MIT and is now living in California and working for Google; the other is at Northeastern and doing an internship with Google.
When she was younger, she played lacrosse and field hockey, as well as a variety of musical instruments, but has now ``stopped doing a lot of these extra things'' so she can concentrate on her studies.
