You can estimate what you'll pay for natural gas for the
coming winter, compared to what you paid in prior years with The
Journal's online gas bill calculator.
Take a recent bill from New England Gas and find the usage
history table on the left side. Locate the middle "CCF'' column and
enter the numbers for each month in the form below.
Some bills contain 13 months of history. Simply ignore the
13th month in the bill history table.
If you don't have a bill handy, you can leave the default
numbers next to each month, which represent usage by a "typical'' New
England Gas customer.
Select the type of service you receive -- heating or non
heating -- and indicate which of the two service areas you live in. Click on "service area'' if you're not sure. To see the calculations, click the "Calculate'' button.
Note: The results may not exactly match your actual past bills
because of billing cycles, gas usage in prior years and number
rounding differences.
