Music fest will benefit Station charities
09:11 AM EDT on Wednesday, July 27, 2005
An all-day music festival and raffle on Aug. 6 at Goddard State Park
will raise money for charities related to The Station nightclub fire.
The Station Fire Victims Lost Not Forgotten Music Festival will be held
from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Proceeds will be split between The Station
Children's Fund and The Doc Fund.
The 2003 Station fire in West Warwick killed 100 people and injured 200.
The concert event will feature eight bands, a custom car show, arts and
craft tables, a National Guard Humvee, a dunk tank, activities for
children and raffles.
The event is free, but patrons are encouraged to buy a $10 raffle ticket
to help reach the goal of raising $50,000. Items to be raffled include a
2005 Harley Davidson Sportster motorcycle, an electric guitar and amp
package, and concert tickets.
Bands performing at no charge for the event are: Dirty Deeds, Wicked
80's, Crush, Big Machine, The Rock, Soul Ambition, Mateo Luka and The
Foundry.
Raffle tickets are being sold weekends between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
at The Station site, every Wednesday at the Warwick Mall community desk,
from band members and at area sponsor sites listed on the event Web site
(www.lostnotforgotten.com).
The rain date is Aug. 20.
