Counseling, medical support
The American Lung Association of Rhode Island's Call Center has registered nurses and respiratory therapists available weekdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. to answer questions about lung damage from all sources, including fire. The center's number is (800) 548-8252.
The Rhode Island Victims' Advocacy & Support Center (RIVASC) and the Diocese of Providence will sponsor bimonthly informational support sessions for families and friends directly affected by The Station fire. The sessions are designed to provide information about practical issues that arise in the aftermath of violent death, as well as group support, coping tips and linkage with others who share a similar loss. Sessions will be facilitated by counselors and victim advocates. The next sessions will be held Tuesday, Sept. 2, 16 and 30, at 7 p.m. at St. John the Baptist School, 17 St. John St., West Warwick. Other fundraisers
The Holy Ghost Hall, in East Taunton, Mass., will be the site of a special fundraiser on Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. Sponsored by three East Taunton clubs -- the Holy Ghost Hall, the East Taunton Social Club and the Double 12 Cafe -- the event will feature live music, food, raffles and activities for the children. Stepping Stone Ranch, in West Greenwich, will be the site of Trib-Fest Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The performing bands include Vagabond Kings (Thin Lizzie), Faceless (Godsmack), Bounce (Bon Jovi), Get Your Guns (Guns N' Roses), Mr. Breeze (Lynyrd Skynyrd), Dirty Deeds (AC/DC), Diver Down (Van Halen), Gov't Cheese (Rage Against the Machine), Hindenburg (Led Zeppelin) and Human Clay (Creed). Tickets are $15 in advance and are available at Jarrod's Place, Re-Bar and the Cowesett Inn; and $18 at the gate. Children 12 and under will be admitted free. All proceeds to benefit The Station Family Fund.
