Donations to the 100 Memorial Scholarships established at the URI Feinstein College of Continuing Education to honor each of the victims of The Station Nightclub fire can be sent to: The Station Fire Scholarship Fund, c/o Alan Shawn Feinstein, 37 Alhambra Circle, Cranston, RI 02905. The Feinstein Foundation will double all donations received before July 15.
Counseling, medical support
The American Lung Association of Rhode Island's Call Center has registered nurses and respiratory therapists available weekdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. to answer questions about lung damage from all sources, including fire. The center's number is (800) 548-8252.
The Rhode Island Victims' Advocacy & Support Center (RIVASC) and the Diocese of Providence will sponsor bimonthly informational support sessions for families and friends directly affected by The Station fire. The sessions are designed to provide information about practical issues that arise in the aftermath of violent death, as well as group support, offering coping tips and contact with others who share a similar loss. Sessions will be facilitated by counselors and victim advocates. The next session will be held in the cafeteria of St. John the Baptist School, 17 St. John St., West Warwick, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Fundraisers
The Station Family Fund is sponsoring a community car wash Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the West Warwick Civic Center. Cars are $5. SUVs and trucks are $7. All proceeds will benefit the victims of The Station Nightclub fire. Volunteers are welcome. Call Victoria Potvin at 821-2149.
A Benefit Concert in Remembrance of Nick O'Neill, including the first performance of Nick's play, They Walk Among Us, will be Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the Pawtucket Congregational Church, 40 Walcott St., Pawtucket. The production is directed by Nick's brother, Chris O'Neill, and features Nick's friends, Charles Sherba, violin; Consuelo Sherba, viola; Chris Turner, harmonica; Virginia Eskin, piano; and Nigel Gore as the reader. The suggested donation is $15 for adults and $10 for students. All proceeds go to the Nicky O' Foundation, an organization founded by Nick's family to support music education opportunities for underserved students. For information, call 722-7934.
A Mancini Memorial, in memory of Steven, Andrea and Keith, will be held Sunday at the Hyatt Regency on Goat Island, Newport, from 2 to 6 p.m. It's a clambake with live entertainment by Eventfull Affairs. There will also be a silent auction and raffle. Tickets are $25 and will be available at the door. All proceeds will be split between surviving members of the Fathead band to buy equipment, The Station Fire Fund, St. Jude's and Shriner's.
A benefit concert for the Abbie Lea Hoisington Memorial Scholarship Fund will be held Sunday from 2 p.m. to midnight at Patrick's Pub, 381 Smith St., Providence. Bands performing will include 2nd Avenue, Pete and Joe, Farnum Street, Bill and Pam, Crazy Chester, Kickin' Brass and Fortune. There will also be a special appearance by the Celtic Daughters, Irish dancers. Donation is $10. All proceeds will benefit the scholarship fund.
