Interesting fact: This is J&W’s 94th commencement. Graduating senior Nathan N. Tamba, a refugee from Liberia who came to this country in 2001, delivered the student address. Tamba graduated magna cum laude with an accounting degree.
Keynote speaker: Joseph J. MarcAurele, president of Citizens Bank of Rhode Island, gave the address at the afternoon College of Business and School of Technology ceremony. “Listen. Sit back and bite your tongue. You’ll be amazed at what you can learn by being silent.”
Honorary degree recipients: MarcAurele (Doctor of Business Administration in Financial Services Management); John R. McCartan, owner of a teacher-training company (Doctor of Business Administration); Jeremy M. Jacobs, chairman and CEO of Delaware North Cos. Inc. (Doctor of Business Administration in Sports, Entertainment and Event Management; winemaker Gina Maria Gallo (Doctor of Oenology).
