Man hit by lightning in West Greenwich
05:07 PM EDT on Friday, May 28, 2004
WEST GREENWICH -- A 42-year-old man was being evaluated at a hospital
emergency room after being struck by lightning this morning.
William Lyons, whose address was not available, was working on junk cars
at 420 Nooseneck Hill Rd. and was holding a tire iron when he was
apparently hit by lightning at about 10:20 a.m., according to the West
Greenwich police.
He was conscious and alert, the police said, and taken to Kent County
Memorial Hospital.
Lyons was still being evaluated in the emergency room late this
afternoon and was going to be admitted, a hospital official said.
Rainstorms had been moving through the area early today.
