W. New England 38, UMD 17 in football

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Western New England College built a 38-17 lead after three quarters and held off a late comeback to down the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth 38-31, in a New England Football Conference Boyd Division game eld yesterday.
The Golden Bears blocked two punts in the first half to set up scores. Austin Adaskaveg blocked a punt by Corsair junior George Vasiliadis after UMD’s first possession, setting up a nine-yard scoring run by Jordan Capitanio to make it 7-0 less than three minutes into the game.
The Corsairs gained 408 yards, including 274 on the ground. T.J. Harold gained 169 yards in 17 attempts and returned three kickoffs for 126 yards, giving him 295 yards of all-purpose yardage. Alex Garro completed nine of 23 passes for 134 yards and rushed for 57 more.
