Bryant women beat St. Francis; men fall to Albany

Junior co-captain Kelsey O’Keefe became the 19th player in Bryant women’s basketball history to reach 1,000 career points with her first basket of the game.
O’Keefe went on to score a game-high 15 points to lead the Bulldogs to a 53-50 win over Northeast Conference opponent St. Francis last night at the Chace Athletic Center in Smithfield in Bryant’s first-ever Division I home opener.
Shannon Wood added another 11 points for the Bulldogs squad, which led, 30-25, at halftime.
Kendra Williams led St. Francis with 14 points, while teammates Kristin Leitheuser and Kara Ayers each scored 12 points.

The Great Danes earned their fifth straight win in a contest at the SEFCU Center in Albany, N.Y. Brian Connelly added 13 points, all in the first half, for Albany, which led, 28-22, at halftime. Barry Latham led Bryant with 16 points.
