Billy Mitchell Acoustic
Billy Mitchell is a singer/songwriter whose songs are inspired by the whimsy of Jimmy Buffett, the wit of Shel Silverstein, the eccentricity of John Prine with a dash of Spike Jones thrown in for good measure. It has been said that his music is like a trip to Key West via “The Twilight Zone”; great fun, full of musical surprises. Billy has released a 12 song debut CD of original music entitled “What’s So Bad About Feelin’ Good?” The songs were written during a stay on Florida’s Gulf Coast and not only capture the carefree spirit of the region, but reflect Billy’s upbeat “the glass is half-full” philosophy. Billy has been writing and performing for almost two decades, first as tenor in the a cappella doo-wop quartet The Hudsons. Presently Billy is front man and plays guitar, harp and percussion for local Classic Rock band New York Minute, performing in local venues such as Christie’s in Newport, The Harbourside in East Greenwich; Hanson’s Landing in South County. He is a member of ASCAP, Nashville Songwriters Association, Rhode Island Songwriters Association and is represented by Springbarrel Songwriter Services.
