CORRECTION
In the North Kingstown race for House District 46, long-time incumbent Kenneth Carter, a Democrat, defeated Republican newcomer Ruth A. Zaccaria, according to unofficial tallies provided yesterday by the state Board of Elections.
Early, unofficial Providence Journal tallies, which were reported in yesterday's paper, listed Zaccaria as the apparent winner. But, in fact, Carter got 2,024 votes to Zaccaria's 1,223. The outcome of the race won't be affected by absentee ballots.
