Heavy snow tonight, tapering off tomorrow
PROVIDENCE AND VICINITY, COASTAL, R.I. AND CONN., CAPE COD AND THE ISLANDS, AND BOSTON AND VICINITY: Snow heavy at times tonight. Probable accumulations of eight to 16 inches. Windy with drifting, Snow ending tomorrow. Low tonight in teens. High tomorrow in the 20s. Northeast winds 25 to 40 mph tonight and north winds 25 to 35 mph tomorrow.
NARRAGANSETT BAY: East winds 35 to 50 knots with higher gusts tonight and tomorrow. Snow heavy at times tonight and early tomorrow. Visibility near zero in snow. Seas building to three to six feet tonight. Tides two to four feet above normal with flood ing at high tide tonight and early tomorrow. (High tides at 7 p.m. and 7:27 a.m.. in Providence.)
EXTENDED OUTLOOK: Fair and cold Wednesday through Friday. Daytime highs in 20s Wednesday and Friday and in teens to low 20s Thursday. Overnight lows 5 to 15 near coast and 5 above to 5 below inland.
MERRIMACK RIVER TO WATCH HILL AND 25 MILES OFFSHORE: Northeast winds 25 to 40 knots and gusty tonight and early tomorrow, backing to northerly and slowly diminishing tomorrow. Snow heavy at times tonight and early tomorrow, tapering off later in the day. Visibility variable to near zero tonight and early tomorrow. Seas six to 12 feet tonight, subsiding tomorrow. Tides two to three feet above normal with some flooding at high tide tonight and early tomorrow.
MAINE: Light snow likely in north and sometimes heavy snow elsewhere tonight, tapering off tomorrow. Lows tonight near zero in the north and in teens in the south. Highs tomorrow in teens in the north and 20s in the south.
NEW HAMPSHIRE: Snow heavy at times tonight, tapering off tomorrow. Lows tonight in single numbers in the north and in teens in the south. Highs tomorrow in teens in the north and 20s in the south.
VERMONT: Snow tonight, tapering off tomorrow. Total accumulations four to eight inches. Lows tonight zero to 10 above. Highs tomorrow 10 to 15.
NEW YORK: Heavy snow tapering off late tonight. Windy and drifting. Possible accumulations of over one foot. Tomorrow partly cloudy. Lows tonight 10 to 15. High tomorrow in teens to mid 20s.
