Charles D. ``Charlie'' Baxter III, 23, Claire's son.
Successful filmmaker, lives in Providence, has worked for the
Farrelly Brothers. Offbeat, brilliant, handsome.

Gloria Rodriguez, 27, a Trinity Rep actress.
Charlie Baxter's fiancee. Had parts in several Farrelly Bros. film.
Lives in rural Pascoag.

Helen Washington, 36, Claire's personal secretary.
Employed for 15 years by Mrs. Spencer, with whom she lives. A
confidante and friend as well as employee.

Richard Lombardo, 58, U.S. congressman R-R.I.
A Republican, like Mrs. Spencer. Romantically interested in Mrs.
Spencer, now that she's divorced (for the third time).

Chips Morton, 59, second of Claire's three ex-husbands.
A financial failure and heavy drinker; his ex-wife feels pity (or
more?) for him. Lives on houseboat on Newport Harbor.

Lucy Hamilton, 68, dear old friend of Claire.
Lives on East Side of Providence, visits Newport often. Widowed and
childless, she has even more money than her friend.

Ted O'Hara, 48, Mrs. Spencer's butler.
