Updated 6.4.2004 ORGANIZATIONS AND WEB RESOURCES The Power of Words: Weekly lessons on the craft of newspaper writing, from the staff of The Providence Journal The Freedom Forum: A nonpartisan foundation dedicated to free press, free speech and free spirit for all people. The Newseum: The interactive museum of news, featuring today's front pages from around the world and special exhibits on current events. Highschooljournalism.org: A scholastic journalism site for students interested in the craft, their teachers/advisers, guidance counselors and professional journalists, from the American Society of Newspaper editors. High school electronic journalism project: The goal is to identify, inspire, train and challenge the next generation of electronic journalists and First Amendment advocates. Poynter Institute's High School Journalism Guide: Designed to introduce students to all facets of the journalist's craft: reporting, writing, design, graphics, photography, broadcast, and multimedia. Journalism Education Association: Leading the way in scholastic journalism and media education since 1924. Columbia Scholastic Press Association: Serving student journalists since 1925. Student Press Law Center: Advocate for student free-press rights and provides information, advice and legal assistance at no charge to students and the educators who work with them. Quill and Scroll: International Honorary Society for High School Journalists, organized for the purpose of encouraging and recognizing individual student achievement in journalism and scholastic publication. National Scholastic Press Association: Its top goal is to help high school students and teachers improve their publications. New England Scholastic Press Association: Assists the six-state region's student journalists and their advisers. Headquartered at Boston University's College of Communication, members include school broadcast productions, magazines, newspapers and yearbooks. The aim of the Association is to improve all facets of the scholastic press. Dow Jones Newspaper Fund: A foundation that promotes careers in journalism. One branch is geared to high school students looking for career information, scholarship opportunities and new programs to test their horizons. Rhode Island Press Association New England Press Association: The association aims to promotes growth and excellence in community journalism through technology, networking, education and recognition among its members.
New England Newspaper Association: Its principal mission is to provide education and information to the New England newspaper industry.
