Middle School Best Newspaper Best Newspaper This newspaper shows a real sophistication in writing and reporting, and also in organization and expression. Editorials are very strong, showing high intellect. Feature stories are well crafted. Stories are of consistently high quality. Pages are packed with information about the school and the people within its walls. Choice, treatment and mix of stories add up to excellent coverage. Headlines and captions are snappy, attention-getting and playful. Stories are clean and focused. Pages are attractive.
The writing is solid, detailed and well thought-out. Sports columns and stories have a pleasant style and are nicely executed. Coverage is of consistently high quality. News about the classes, school activities and sports is very generous, thorough and widely varied. Headlines are good, inviting and sometimes snappy. Photos are plentiful and played big, making for stronger, more attractive pages. 2nd Runner-up Writing in this paper is consistently strong, particularly in news stories. Feature stories are well done. Columns are good, fun, crisply written, humorous, and engaging. Commendable job covering issues that go beyond the school, taking a wide view of the community. Reviews, games and student comics are entertaining.
Writing is strong, breezy and succinct. Feature stories are nicely executed
with interesting quotes. Sports stories are plentiful. Impressive coverage of
classroom news and school activities for a small newspaper at a small school.
Features are fun, sometimes silly, and even hilarious. Photos are plentiful,
and cut lines are informative and often playful.
