Middle School Best Newspaper
Best Newspaper The Jaguar Journal Nicholas Ferri Middle School "The stories are clearly written, highly readable and of general interest to the students. Your coverage of the Ferri community is outstanding! The academic team news section is clearly marked and contains a good synopsis of each group’s activities. The same for the club/activities section especially the photo display. We were also impressed by the coverage given to Johnston 'Teacher of the Year' and the story about ‘the station fire’. The page design is impressive, good use of space, dominant photos." 1st Runner-up The Viking Press Riverside Middle School "The writing is very sophisticated and polished, indicating a lot of adult guidance. Very broad coverage of topics, including a lot of community news. Clean design with many color pictures." 2nd Runner-up For Your Information Deering Middle School West Warwick "Good strong articles that are important including 'D.A.R.E. ‘ Crossing the Line’ and ‘Graffiti Problems’ And the sidebar asking students to speak out was a good idea! Good attempt at clever headlines ‘ spare change changes levels’ and good attempt at strong straightforward headlines (Graffiti Problem Disrupts School)." 3rd Runner-up Knotty Oak Times Knotty Oak Middle School "You have many good writers. Your best work is on stories offering useful advice to students and stories reporting on student opinion. Page design is magic. Good use of photos." |
