In-Depth Reporting First Place Vanessa Sampalis Cranston High School West The West Wind "This was a very ambitious project for a high school newspaper. You tackled the most important story facing the schools in Cranston, writing about budget deliberations and court decisions, politics, and policy making. You made good use of quotes and attributions throughout your story. You have the potential to be an excellent journalist." 2nd Place Bishop Hendricken High School Tom Elias Talon "This is an excellent concept -- right on target with reader interest. The stories were written in an easy, conversational style. The story line was clear, and easy to follow, There was a good blend of information, entertainment and practical advice. The concept had the added advantage of suspense -- readers will certainly want to follow the characters through to the outcome." 3rd Place Barrington High School Brian Morgan The Talon "This overview of the music scene was very well done. The effort conveys the author's knowledge of the musicians and his enthusiasm for the music. The writing is spirited and interesting. Good criticism should compliment the experiences of the artist's work and music fans would find these reviews valuable." |
