The crew's view

The ``motor man'' (engine tuner) for the Miller Lite car, who has been in racing since he was 15 years old, likens it to a circus: ``You arrive, you pitch the tent, put on a show, then move on to the next town and do it all again. You get a week off at Christmas and that's about it.''

A 26-year-old member of the Marines car in NASCAR's Busch Series says it's not so hard being away from home — ``you get to see the world and meet lots of people.''

And the guy who drives the Kodak Film car transporter says: ``The crew becomes your family — you don't have friends at home cause you're never there.''

``Everybody who works on racecars wants to be a driver,'' says a member of the McDonald's car crew. ``I never had enough money to be a driver, so this is the closest I could get!''
