• Citizens Bank and Cox Communications , at any bank branch or Cox payment center in Rhode Island or Connecticut.

• The Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce , 6 Blackstone Valley Place, Suite 301, Lincoln, RI 02865.

THE SEPTEMBER 11TH FUND

Established by the New York Community Trust and United Way of New York City. The money will go to agencies providing relief . Here are some ways to contribute:

• The Rhode Island Foundation and the United Way of Southeastern New England . The Rhode Island Foundation, 1 Union Station, Providence, RI 02903. United Way of Southeastern New England, 229 Waterman St., Providence, RI 02906.

• Several grocery stores are matching contributions: Eastside Marketplace, Providence (up to a total of $10,000); Clements Market, Portsmouth; Brigido's Marketplace, in Pascoag, Slatersville, and Scituate; Carcieri's Market, Providence; and Dunn's Corner Market, Westerly (up to a total of $5,000).

• Trinity Repertory Company , collecting donations after performances until Nov. 4.

FIREFIGHTERS' FUNDS

• The American Heart Association will contribute $250,000 to the New York Firefighters 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund, established by the International Association of Fire Fighters (www.iaff.org).

• Coastway Credit Union is matching donations to help Providence Fire Fighters Local 799 with relief efforts in New York City.

• Alpert's Furniture , at the front office desk. $5 donation receives a Alpert's American flag tee shirt.

OTHER FUNDS

The Families for Freedom Scholarship Fund will provide college, trade school and vocational school help for children and spouses of those killed or permanently disabled by the attacks. To donate by credit card, call 1-877-862-0136 or send checks to the Citizens Scholarship Foundation of America, 1505 Riverview Rd., PO Box 297, St. Peter, MN 56082.

• The Knights of Columbus will give $3,000 to families of all full-time professional law-enforcement, firefighting and emergency-medical personnel who died in the rescue and recovery efforts.

• The Muslim community of Rhode Island and Southeastern New England is collecting money, nonperishable food, and such durable goods as clothes, over-the-counter medicines and first-aid supplies. Drop off donations at Masjid al-Islam, 40 Sayles Hill Rd., North Smithfield.

• The Salvation Army:Salvation Army Disaster Relief, 756 Eddy St., Providence, RI 02903.

Checks payable to The United Jewish Communities Emergency Relief Fund may be sent to the Jewish Federation of Rhode Island, 130 Sessions St., Providence, RI 02906.

The World Trade Center Relief Fund , PO Box 5028, Albany, NY 12205, 800-801-8092.

• Coventry Credit Union is collecting for the Salvation Army's Canteen Feeding Unit for the relief efforts. Donations may be made: in Coventry, Nooseneck Hill Branch, 1584 Nooseneck Hill Rd., or Main Street Branch, 1076 Main St.; in West Warwick, Phenix Branch, 744 Main St.; and in Lincoln, Bristol Branch, 435 Wood St., or Manville Branch, 56 Railroad St.

FOR SUPPLIES

The Westerly Community Credit Union is collecting flashlights, batteries, eyedrops, work gloves, rubber gloves, and ground coffee for use in the recovery effort. Drop off donations at 122 Granite St. or 244 Post Rd., both in Westerly, or call 596-7000.

NOVEMBER 2

The Rhode Island Manufacturers Association has rescheduled its "Golden Moment of Rhode Island Manufacturing" (originally planned for Oct. 6). The group includes hundreds of manufacturers across the state. For more information, the association office is at call (401) 751-0160cq.

NOVEMBER 4

• 4 p.m., Salomon Hall, Brown University, Providence. North Indian Classical Music concert to benefit the World Trade Center victims. Noon to 8 p.m., Providence Fire Fighters Local 799 Union Hall, 90-92 Printery St., Providence. A Twin Towers Steak Fry, and a signing by soap opera star Heather Lauren Olson who plays Jan Spears on Days of Our Lives from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Benefits go to New York City Police and Fire Widows and Children's Benefit Fund.

NOVEMBER 11

• Noon, a New England Country Music Show , Elks Lodge, Farnum Pike, Smithfield, to benefit the The Twin Towers Fund . Bands include: Rex Trailer, Billy D. Hunter, Eddie Zack and the Hayloft Jamboree, and The Robin Right Show. For information, call 508-226-4643.

Friends Way , in East Greenwich, provides free support services to children between the ages 3 and 17 and their families after the death of a loved one. 884-0200. www.friendsway.org

The Compassionate Friends offers grief support for families that have lost children of any age. The Rhode Island Chapter is at (401) 723-3321.

Jewish Family Service has counselors and trainers available for crisis intervention and bereavement counseling at its headquarters, 229 Waterman St., Providence. For information, call 331-1244.
