My deepest condolences to the family and all loved ones of Curtis Mancini. My heart aches for you, and you will remain in my thoughts and prayers. I pray that the deep hurt you feel can be in some part eased by the feeling of great pride for Curtis' valor and deep sense of patriotism. Curtis, you have made the ultimate sacrifice and did so willingly and without hesitation. Thank you so very much for defending my freedom. It means so much to me, to the people of NYC and to the entire nation. Thank you for your bravery and sacrifice in the service of the country that I love so very much.
John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Most Sincerely, Pat Shoukry

Dear Erika, John, Michael, Lisa and the rest of that large family of yours. How could we know when we used to talk about the boys when they were working together in restaurants, what their futures would hold? We always worried.
Please know there is nothing we can say that will help at this time except to say we are thinking of you and praying for you. That smile of Curtis's will always be remembered. You did a good job, and were wonderful parents. John, you set such an example with your patriotism and loyalty to your country, that it was only natural that Curtis entered into the career he loved as much as you did. He is our hero. Erika, only a mother can have special feelings for a son, and only another mothern can understand a little what you are going through. Please know we are thinking of you. We are in Marco Island, Fla until
April. Our love and prayers,
Marilyn and Art Fletcher

When somebody dies, a cloud turns into an angel, and flies up to tell God to put another flower on a pillow. A bird gives the message back to the world, and sings a silent prayer that makes the rain cry. People disappear, but they never really go away. The spirits up there put the sun to bed, wake up grass, and spin the earth in dizzy circles. Sometimes you can see them dancing in a cloud during the day-time, when they're supposed to be sleeping. They paint the rainbows and also the sunsets and make waves splash and tug at the tide. They toss shooting stars and listen to wishes. And when they sing windsongs, they whisper to us---"Don't miss me too much. The view is nice and I'm doing just fine."

To the entire Mancini family, I am so sorry for this terrible loss that you have to go through. I considered Curt to be one of my greatest " true" friends and an insperation to all that knew him . I had the pleasure spending and entire month traveling to Sturgis, SD and across the Western United States with Curt, Jeff Young and Curtis Lenard on our Harleys. This was one of the most memorable times in my life and when you spend that much time with someone you really appriciate who they are. Curt was a great father and son who loved his family and he was not affraid to share that with anybody that would listen. Curtis Lenard also died over the past 6 months and I only wish that they can meet and keep each other company in there higher place. I will never forget Curt, he will remain in my heart and in my thoughts always. He is a true insperation. "GOD REST YOUR SOLE MY FRIEND" Ride on Cowboy.

To Curt, my "Big" brother, when you were'nt tackling me in football, you were protecting me while we were growing up. I should have known then the great and courageous man you 'd become - protecting this great country of ours. You always made everyone believe you would conquer all and set our worried minds at ease. I never imagined this day would come, and although my pride for you cannot keep my heart from breaking, I know that pride and the love I have for you will sustain me and all who have loved you , in this time of great despair. I love you, Lisa

The August family extends our sincere condolences to the family of SGT Curtis Mancini who died in the service of his country in the "forgotten" war on terrorism in Afghanistan two days after our son was KIA in Iraq. Both made the ultimate sacrifice for our country in a conflict that is becomng less and less popular. Let no one tell us that our sons died needlessly or in an illegal war. They were following the legal orders of our commander in chief and believed that what they were doing was making Americans safer all over the world. God bless all those who have laid down their lives or borne the wounds of battle for those of us who have stayed behind.
From Doug Bruzzi,
warwick, ri

To the parents and children and friends of Curtis Mancini....I want to let you know that my parents are buried near your son and father and friend here in RI, at the RI Veterans Cemetary. I visit my parents often and walk by the brave man I see there as Curtis Mancini. He has a picture on the grave....when I use some grass clippers to clean my parents grave I also clean up around Curtis's grave and think of his sacrifice for me and my two sons, Patrick and Rory who are 21 and 19....and also for my wife Sue.
Words can not express my sorrow and gratitude but I want to let you know that I pray for him often as I visit with my mom and dad, Len and Aileen Hartnett. My dad was a 28 year Naval Veteran and my mom a Navy Wife.
Take care and all the best
Greg Hartnett
