From Pat Shoukry, New York, NY
Hey Jason,
Hope you are doing well. Just wanted to say a big THANK YOU for your bravery and sacrifice in the service of our beloved country. I work just 6 miles from "Ground Zero" in NYC. Being on the "front lines" of the Homefront, we know all too well that freedom does not come free. Guess you can say we've been "through the fire here", but we carry on each day standin tall with heads high because of our awesome US Military; of which you are a part. Because you serve, Americans continue to board airliners with confidence and the people in NYC and DC can live without FEAR! Thanks for giving all of your fellow countrymen the gift that we cherish most....our FREEDOM! May God bless you and all those you love, and return you to them safely and soon. You will remain in my prayers.
With my very best wishes,
Pat

From Jennifer Shane, Francis, Ut

From Vaughn mathews, manti, ut
Dear Jason. Today Vaughn and I want to celebrate you, a man who's independent yet sensitive to the needs of others, who's strong in his convictions, and who has accepted the things he couldn't change. You are a man who is honest and straightforward, who's always patient and willing to listen to family and friends. We have observed what a calming influence you were, as you prepared to leave your family, to go to Iraq. You have a definite calming presence in a time of real confusion. You have shared kindness and comfort when needed, and a gentle smile when it was needed most. So Jason we celebrate you, a Hero with a gift for caring, who brightens his family's days just by being himself. We feel honored that you are our nephew and friend. You mean very much to us. May God Bless You and your family.

From Danielle Watson, Provo, UT

The weather is great here and I took a couple of days off to finish up the work that needed done in Liberty (finally sold the house) and get some things organized at my new house in Ogden. Now I realize I need at least a week to get things done at home! Amy said your half-way mark has passed! Yahoo.. we can start counting down! It'll sure be great to get you home!

Jason, hey it's always good to read your summaries from over there. Please know that your efforts and sacrifice is appreciated. It sounds like you're working with a great bunch of folks which I'm sure makes it at least somewhat easier to be away from everything in your life. Before you know it you'll be home and you can look back and be proud of your service to our country and the sacrifices you and your family made during this time. Take Care and see you when you get back..........Norm.

From Riley Reese, Columbia, TN
Jason,
To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intelligent persons and the affection of children, to earn the approbation of honest critics; to appreciate beauty; to give of one's self, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived--that is to have succeeded. Author: Ralph Waldo Emerson Source: The Book of Positive Quotations I think that we can all breath easier because you have lived and I want to thnak you for that! rileyreese@cpws.net

From Ray Grow, Murray, Ut
Hi Jason,
Thanks for sending the spider photos this way. They are just in time for Halloween. There ought to be a way to put them to good use. It's good to see your letters and hear about your activities. It is quit a different enviornment than the daily routine of an engineer here at the office. I'm sure you would much rather be involved with the latter but what you are doing is important too. I don't think anyone would disagree that Iraq is a lousy place to be when you have a family at home who needs you and cares about you. The yard looks good, Amy, Jackson and Hayden are doing a good job keeping up on it. You have some good neighbors nearby, Rocky came across the street while we were there and offered to utilize his battery charger. It worked very well. I'm sure Jackson will enjoy starting your truck now, I would have at that age. Keep the letters coming and stay busy. We'll stay busy on this end and try to make the time go by faster. More later, Ray

From Paula Nielson, Alpine, UT
Hello Jason! I am so proud to tell people about you! My boys remember you every night in their prayers. We are proud of you and appreciate your sacrifice for US! Take care and come home soon! Love, Casey, Paula, Cade and Zach Nielson

From Jeanne Jewkes, Cottonwood Heights, Ut
Hi Jason, I enjoy your newsy letters. It is just a little window into what our men and women go through for each of us. Thank you for the sacrifice you and your family are giving for all of us. God bless you and the troops and God bless America. Jeanne

From Lindsey Barker, Ogden, UT
Hey Jason! I just wanted to say thank you for all that you are doing. You are in my thoughts and prayers. :)

From Al Loveland, Taylorsville, UT
In Alma 60:36 it says, I seek not for homor of the world, but for the glory of my God, and the freedom and welfare of my country. Jason, like Moroni you too are a hero to those of us here at home. I'm grateful to have served myself, and I pay tribute to you my friend. Thanks for the example you are to all of us. Sincerely Yours. Al & Jimi Loveland

From Ken Dastrup, Riverton, Ut
Jason, Hey! I wanted to add my thanks to all the others who recognize the importance of what you're engaged in. There may be some who are critical of the need to make freedom possible to an oppressed people, but I believe most of us recognize that some one or some nation has a duty to rise up to extend and defend freedom, the most basic of human principles, to those unable to do it for themselves. I am grateful to live in a country with a people willing to make that sacrifice for others. Thanks for all you and the soldiers serving there are doing. Ken Dastrup

From Karla Little, Syracuse, ut
Dear Jason, I am a friend of Judy Wright. I'm thankful for this opportunity to thank you for the sacrafices that you and your family are making. You are very brave. I will remember you in all my prayers until you are safely home again. I wish I had something profound to say that could somehow diminish your homesickness and some of the worries you must have. I wish somehow I could bear part of that burden for you. But please know that I do appreciate you and are proud that there are men like you to do this good work. Thank you. Karla Little

From Jessie Barrett, Murray, UT
Hi Fella,
Thank you Jason from all of us. We're so proud of you and what your doing we're bursting at the seams. Half way! It seems like yesterday that you left us and now "half way" seems like a long time ago. Can't wait to see you when you come home. Amy and the boy's came by for lunch a couple of weeks ago. Boy, are you in for a surprise. They have grown so much. Not only in stature, but maturity. Your baby is adorable. Not a day goes by that we don't think of you. Know that! We sure do appreciate your weekly e-mails. I've kept every one of them.
We are in a hiring freeze now. Maybe, when you get home some engineering positions will becoming available. I'll let you know what's happening. Ralph is gone (retired). A training position will be the replacement there for a DC/9-11. Niels is acting for now. Kerry Goodrich is acting for Todd. He's a very nice gentleman. You know we have a lot of very nice gentlemen working for NRCS. I wonder how many other agencies can say that. Hope you'll be one of those gentlemen soon.
Take care Jason, for all of us.
Love ya',
Jessie

We want to wish you a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY and our promise to pray daily for you and for all those who serve there with you. You know the power of prayer and we know the faith you have and the strength you have to get through this difficult time in your life.
