Reports abound that Grant Hill is headed to the Knicks

BOSTON -- With Rasheed Wallace in the fold, the Celtics are now turning their interest toward fellow free agent Grant Hill. But while some media outlets — such as Comcast Sports in New England — are reporting that talks between Hill and the Celts are continuing, other arrows are pointing toward Hill signing with the Knicks.

The Mavericks' Jason Kidd told Dan Patrick on Patrick's radio show that Hill would sign with New York.

"I think that would be a good fit,” Kidd said. "He played for [Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni when D'Antoni coached Phoenix]. They'll go out and run and have the Garden jumping."

Fanhouse.com also reports that Hill is leaning toward the Knicks, at least partially because his wife of 10 years, recording artist Tamia, thinks her career would benefit from living in New York. Other factors that may steer Hill to New York: he would be a starter with the Knicks and not with the Celtics; he would make more with the Knicks; and he may get a chance to play with LeBron James if New York, as expected, makes a hard run at the Cavaliers' superstar when he hits free agency after the 2009-10 season.

The only advantage that Boston has is the fact that the Celtics are a serious title contender and the Knicks aren't, and Hill — who will turn 37 in October — is running out of time to win a championship. (He's yet to win one in his career, which began with the Pistons in 1994 and continued with the Magic in 2000 and the Suns in 2007.) But the possible arrival of James in New York in 2010-11 may negate even that edge for the Celts.
