Celtics offer limited tickets for Games Six and Seven
07:26 AM EDT on Tuesday, June 17, 2008
BOSTON (AP) - A lot of perseverance and a bit of luck landed some Boston Celtics fans tickets to Game 6 - and a possible Game 7 - of the NBA Finals.
The team put a limited number of tickets on sale after the Los Angeles Lakers stayed alive in the series with a 103-98 victory Sunday night. The Celtics still lead the best-of-seven series 3-2.
Fans began lining up outside the TD Banknorth Garden almost immediately after Game 5 ended on the West Coast. By 11 a.m., several hundred were in line.
Each person was given a numbered wristband and a lottery was held to determine which fans would be the first to get tickets.
Tricia McCorkle, a spokeswoman for the arena, said the tickets sold out within 15 minutes.
If the Celtics win Game 6 Tuesday night and clinch the series, full refunds will be given to fans who bought tickets for Game 7.
