Boston Celtics
Ilgauskas has been a big presence for Cavs
08:53 AM EDT on Friday, May 9, 2008
BOSTON -- Celtics coach Doc Rivers said that the overlooked player on Cleveland’s roster is clearly Zydrunas Ilgauskas. The 7-foot-3 Lithuanian has battled foot injuries through his career, but when he’s on, he’s a very productive offensive player. That was certainly the case last night, especially in the first half when the big man hit his first six shots and scored 12 first-half points.
“I just think he’s a low-post presence, and there’s not a lot of those in our league anymore,” Rivers said. “He stretches the floor with his size and his jump shot. There’s not a lot of guys as skilled as him at his size.”
