Celtics' Pierce wouldn't mind sitting out a few

BOSTON - Forward Paul Pierce, who was icing both of his knees before last night’s game, said he wouldn’t mind taking a few games off after the Celtics clinch home-court advantage throughout the playoffs.

“If there is an opportunity for me to rest and the coach feels like it’s necessary, I’ll be for it. But as a competitor, you want to be on the court all the time,” Pierce said. “Understanding what’s important to the coaching staff and what’s important to the franchise, I’m open for it pretty much regarding to where we are in the standings in those last few games.”
Boston coach Doc Rivers said he doesn’t plan to rest any of his stars for an entire game, but he will cut back on their minutes.
He said if they miss games, their timing will be off in the playoffs, and he doesn’t want that to happen.
Rivers said he would like to see Tony Allen, Sam Cassell and P.J. Brown play more as the regular season winds down.
