Martin Luther King Jr. Day Programs

Rochel Coleman performs as Martin Luther King Jr. and other civil rights activists Monday at the Providence Children’s Museum as part of M.L.K.: Amazing Grace.

MLK Day Woonsocket: A River of Dreams, A City of Hope, Woonsocket High School, 777 Cass Ave., Woonsocket. 762-0993. Workshops (What Do You Have to Say About MLK?, Where is the Violence in My Life? and Watching My Dreams in Motion); art projects; dance. Multicultural lunch. 10 am-2:30 pm. Registration 9:30-10 am.

Rhode Island Americorps Programs Celebration begins with a short program at Adelaide School, 155 Harrington Ave., Providence. After, 300 volunteers get deployed throughout the city where they will paint murals, quotes and walls at a number of Providence schools. The day of service seeks to honor Dr. King’s legacy by bringing together community member from all walks of life on the common ground of service. To volunteer, call 454-3744, 487-9713.
