SOMERSET

BRISTOL

JULY 4

Linden Place Annual 4th of July Picnic. Linden Place Mansion, front lawn, 500 Hope St. For information, call (401) 253-0390. A continental breakfast and picnic lunch will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $50, $35 for children.

ATTLEBORO

JULY 4

Fireworks. Hayward Field, North Avenue, Attleboro, 9 p.m.

BLOCK ISLAND

JULY 4

Parade. Legion Park, Block Island at 11 a.m. A band concert follows at Nicholas Ball Park in Old Harbor and the Fire Department annual steak fry at 12:30 p.m. Admission, $20.

JULY 5

Concert. Fred Benson Town Beach Pavilion, Corn Neck Road, Block Island. Booze Beggers at 7:30 pm, fireworks at 9 pm.

CHEPACHET

JULY 4

Ancients and Horribles Parade. Parade steps off at 4 p.m. from Routes 100 and 98, and travels along Putnam Pike (Route 44), Chepachet. For more information, call (401) 568-6206. Road race on the grounds of Chepachet Union Church. Registration begins at 8 a.m.

COVENTRY

JULY 4

Fireworks. Johnson’s Pond. 9:30 p.m.

CUMBERLAND

JULY 4

Parade and Concert. Arnold Mills, Cumberland. Road race begins at 9 a.m. from the North Cumberland Fire Station. Parade at 11 am on Nate Whipple Highway, near the North Attleboro town line. Concert on the Green at 1 p.m. in front of Arnold Mills United Methodist Church.

FALL RIVER

JULY 4

Concert in the Park Series. Heritage State Park, Davol Street, Fall River. Down and Dirty, 4 to 6 p.m.; King’s Row, 6 to 8:30 p.m.; BMC Durfee High School Stage Band with patriotic music; fireworks at 9:30 p.m.

NEWPORT

JULY 4

Fireworks, shot over Newport Harbor at dusk. Rain date, July 5.

Fourth of July Ceremonies. Rhode Island Society, Sons of the Revolution, with wreath-laying ceremony at 9:30 am at the gravesite of William Ellery in the Common Burial Ground, Newport, followed by a parade to Eisenhower Park in Washington Square for patriotic music by the Salve Regina University Community Concert Orchestra. Retired Navy Cmdr. Walter Whitley will read the Declaration of Independence. A 21-gun salute by the Artillery Company of Newport Paul Revere cannons follows the music program. JULY 6

Celebrate America. Naval Station, Dewey Field, Newport. Concert and fireworks. Soul Power, rhythm & blues at 5 pm; Navy Band Northeast, patriotic marches and light concert pieces at 7 pm; salute to veterans; 25-minute fireworks display at 8:45 pm. The event is free; bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating. The public may enter through Gate One, the main entrance near the Officers’ Club, beginning at 4 pm. Music, concession and games for children begin at 5 pm. No coolers, backpacks, glass bottles or pets will be allowed.

NORTH KINGSTOWN

JULY 4

Lafayette Band Concert. North Kingstown Town Beach, band shell, 7 p.m., followed by fireworks.

PAWTUCKET

JULY 4

Fireworks. McCoy Stadium, Pawtucket. Following the PawSox game.

JULY 5

Fireworks. McCoy Stadium, Pawtucket. Following the PawSox game.

PROVIDENCE

JULY 4

Concert. Waterplace Park, Providence. Carlos de Leon will perform from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

SEEKONK

JULY 6

Fireworks, Seekonk Speedway, 1710 Fall River Ave. (508) 336-9959. Following the demolition derby. Gates open at 3 pm, race begins at 5. $20, $5 ages 12 and younger.

SOMERSET

JULY 4

Greg Billington Memorial Race. Begins at Somerset High School, Luther Avenue entrance, Somerset. Registration, 7 p.m., $15. For more information, call (508) 646-2808.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN

JULY 4

Barbecue and Fireworks. Old Mountain Field, South Kingstown. Family barbecue and children’s activities 5 to 9 pm, followed by a fireworks display at 9 pm. Admission to the fireworks, $1. For more information and tickets to the barbecue, call (401) 789-9301.

Snug Harbor Parade. Starts at 6 pm on Sherman Road, to Point Avenue to Hull Street to Goosebery Road to West Street to Hartford Avenue and then back. Reviewing stand in front of the Snug Harbor Marina. For more information, call (401) 789-0409.

Holiday options

Show some patriotism. Take in a parade. You’ve got at least a few choices today. There’s the big one in Bristol, of course, now in its 223rd year, which steps off at 10:30 a.m. on Hope Street (Route 114). There’s also the Arnold Mills Parade in Cumberland at 11 a.m. on Nate Whipple Highway (Route 120) near the Massachusetts border. And there’s the Ancients & Horribles Parade in Glocester, which begins at 4 p.m. at Routes 100 and 98, and travels along Putnam Pike (Route 44) in the village of Chepachet.
