The first signs for $4 premium gasoline appeared this week in Rhode Island, including at this station at River Street and Chalkstone Avenue in Providence. AAA said the average price for premium in Rhode Island yesterday was $4.172 a gallon, while the price of self-service regular, which most motorists buy, was $3.79 a gallon.
