The changing face of Rhode
Island retail
Since the 1970s, a number
of local and national retail stores doing business in Rhode Island have closed.
Yesterday, Ann & Hope shut its doors in Warwick, ending a nearly 50-year reign
as the king of local discount retailing. In January, Apex announced it would
close stores in Warwick and Swansea, Mass., and scale back operations at the
remaining store in Pawtucket.
