Brown 69, University of the Sciences 48: Bears win third in a row

PHILADELPHIA — Junior Adrian Williams scored 12 points and senior Matt Mullery and freshman Matt Sullivan added 11 apiece, helping Brown cruise to its third straight victory, a 69-48 win over the University of the Sciences on Friday in the Philly Hoop Group Classic at the Palestra.

The Bears improved to 4-3 while the University of the Sciences fell to 0-3.
The Bears started with a 12-0 lead in the first seven minutes. Sullivan scored six points in the opening spurt while Williams added a 3-pointer.
Brown led, 29-17, at the half, and was ahead by as many as 27 points in the second half, 54-27, on a 3-point basket by senior Steve Gruber with 8:31 remaining.
All of Williams’ points came from behind the 3-point arc, going 4-for-10. Sullivan, who handed out a career-high seven assists, was 3-for-3 on 3-pointers and converted 4 of 6 shots overall. Mullery grabbed five rebounds against the Devils.
Bears freshman Tucker Halpern snared a team-high eight rebounds and scored nine points. Junior Peter Sullivan, Gruber and junior Garrett Leffelman finished the game with eight points apiece.
Brown connected on 13 of 32 treys (41 percent). Leading the University for the Sciences, a Philadelphia school, was Adewale Adefami, who registered a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Alec McClure added 10 points.
The Bears conclude Philly Hoop Group Classic play Saturday against Siena (4 o’clock).
