Rask, P-Bruins blank Falcons

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. –– Tuukka Rask stopped 27 shots and Martins Karsums and Vladimir Sobotka each scored a goal as the Providence Bruins downed the Springfield Falcons, 2-0, last night at the MassMutual Center.
The shutout was the second of Rask’s pro career.
The P-Bruins took a 1-0 lead at the 2:26 mark of the opening period while on a power play. Sobotka sent the puck to Karsums as he was crossing the blue line into the Falcons zone. Karsums then skated toward the net before firing the puck into the cage for his ninth goal of the season.
Providence made it 2-0 at the 19:07 mark of the first period. Martin St. Pierre stole the puck in the neutral zone, giving the P-Bruins a 2-on-1 advantage. St. Pierre flipped the puck from the right faceoff circle to Sobotka by the left post, and Sobotka scored his ninth goal of the season.
Devan Dubnyk made 26 saves for the Falcons. The P-Bruins were 1-for-4 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
