PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The state is moving forward with legal action to recover some $75 million that auditors say was squandered at Rhode Island's landfill.

Warwick police and fire officials are still investigating Saturday evening's fatal house fire at 343 Buttonwoods Ave., in Warwick.

The four adults and the baby who died in the Warwick house fire on Saturday died of smoke inhalation, the state Department of Health has just announced. The Rhode Island State Medical Examiners Office has determined the cause of deaths, according to health department spokeswoman Annemarie Beardsworth.



The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow across Rhode Island, from 8 a.m. Wednesday to 1 a.m. Thursday. The warning replaces the less serious Winter Storm Watch previously in effect.

CRANSTON, R.I. -- Michael Ayer, 49, of 46 Frank Rd. in Stoughton, Mass., a probation officer for juveniles was arrested Tuesday afternoon after police say he sold heroin to an undercover officer.

PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- The To Kalon Club, the 140-year old city club in Pawtucket, has been losing members and revenue for years. If a buyer for the club's century-old building isn't found by spring, the club may have to fold.
